Alternate Cajon Pass routes when Interstate 15 is closed
Several alternate routes will take commuters from the Inland Empire to the High Desert, although none is direct and can pose hazards, especially in high traffic situations. 

Check with the California Highway Patrol or Caltrans for up-to-date information on road closures. 

Here are some possible alternate routes: 

• From San Bernardino to the High Desert, via Crestline, take Highway 18 north to Highway 138, to Highway 173, continue north on Lake Arrowhead Road to Main Street in Hesperia, then go west to Interstate 15. 

• From San Bernardino to the High Desert, via Big Bear Lake, take Highway 30 to Highway 330, to Highway 18, to Highway 38 (North Shore Drive) to Highway 18 to Lucerne Valley. Continue west on Highway 18 to Interstate 15 in Victorville. 

• From the East Valley to the High Desert, via Big Bear Lake, take Highway 38 to Highway 18 to Big Bear Lake and Lucerne Valley, continue west on Highway 18 to Interstate 15 in Victorville.

• From northbound Interstate 15 to bypass Cajon Pass between Cajon Junction and Cajon Summit, exit at Highway 138, go west on Highway 138 to Sheep Creek Road, go north on Sheep Creek Road to Highway 18, then east to 1-15 in Victorville.
