Deputies Locate 78-year-old Woman Stranded in Her Home

DATE/TIME: September 10, 2024, at approx. 10:14 p.m
INCIDENT: Welfare Check / Rescue
VICTIM(S): 78-year-old Female Resident
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at approximately 10:p.m., deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department assigned to the Bridge Fire evacuation area in Wrightwood responded to a call for service involving a 78-year-old female resident who was stranded in her home. The caller advised dispatch the elderly resident was not able to leave her home and did not have a vehicle.

Deputies assigned to the area conducting emergency evacuations responded to the call and located the frightened woman inside her home. Deputies assisted her by gathering some belongings, her pet cat and quickly escorted her to an emergency vehicle. Deputies transported her away from the danger area on fire behind her home and provided assistance, relocating her to safety.

The elderly woman was very appreciative for the help during a critical incident and thanked deputies for their quick response and presence in the area. Firefighters in the area were able to protect her home from the large fire headed toward her residence.

* WHAT...Southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph
expected.

* WHERE...Eastern Antelope Valley Foothills, Eastern San Gabriel
Mountains, and Western San Gabriel Mountains and Highway 14
Corridor.

* WHEN...From midnight tonight to midnight PDT Monday Night.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree
limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

Good interactive map of the fire perimeter and affected structures.  Aside from structures, I'm sad about the area around inspiration point, Lupine Campground, the trees near Sunset Peak and the Keller Peak fire tower in the other fire.  Makes me really angry that we still haven't figured out a way to staff resources on the hottest days of the year, and let people just wander unsupervised in conditions that can deprive us all of what used to be our forest.  Incompetence and a complete lack of innovation that needs to be rooted out of the organizations that are tasked with protecting our forest.

Seriously.....what's left of the forests here?

Today firefighters continued establishing and strengthening direct containment lines while also constructing secondary contingency lines which dozers and hand crews. Several helicopters working the hottest areas helped firefighters make progress, and additionally responded late this afternoon in an assist for containing a new fire start in Lytle Creek area.

See if you can find it on the Aneles Forest website.     Golden State was there and you can drink the water. You should flush all your lines first and dispose of ice. I assume they mean ice makers.    Wrightwood may be able to post a link here.   They can't tell you how soon you can return home.
