Darkroom / Film Users?
« on: Jan 20, 21, 02:57:59 PM »
Hi All,

Not sure how active this portion of the forum was. My wife and I moved up here about 2 years ago and I've been slowly converting the garage to a darkroom for black and white and possible color prints down the road. I wasn't sure if there were any active film / darkroom users on the forum?

I used to have a Darkroom when I lived down the hill, I used to develop E-6 slides and C-41 negatives, RA-4 for prints, can't imagine trying to deal with all the dust living in the Phelan desert, maybe in Wrightwood it wouldn't be a problem.
What are you shooting? I still have a few film cameras but I haven't put any film through them in years.

The garage isn't any better for dust. However, it is manageable. Color would be a joy to do, but I've been hesitant on it for a while- just need to pull the trigger on it.

Disposing of chemistry has been a challenge

I shoot 35mm/120mm, but I will use my large format camera from time to time.

When was the last time you printed/developed? It seems it's a dying breed to develop and print film.

It has been a long time since I did any printing, I was printing 35mm and medium format and developing up to 4" x 5".

Believe it or not there is quite a few people shooting film again, I will stick to digital and scanning my old negatives.

I had a darkroom for years. I would spend hours and hours in it.  Dust was always the biggest challenge.

Now days I'm content using my Iphone for taking pictures.  When digital camera's came along it seems everyone considers themselves a professional photographer.. then they get upset when someone uses their photo after uploading it to fb.

My biggest enjoyment with photography is sharing my photos

Haha, Theres still a demand for it- but not enough. Fuji just discontinued one of their film stocks due a shortage of chemistry they use.
