Wrightwood DMR Open Repeaters Available for Users
« on: Feb 18, 21, 07:50:58 AM »
Good morning,

Just a reminder to our local amateur radio community, that we have local DMR repeater access here in Wrightwood and the high desert.  DMR is one of a few digital modes that have become popular in the last 6 years or so.  Technician Class or higher licensees can talk all over the world or down the street on DMR.  It does require a handheld or mobile UHF DMR radio, which are available for very reasonable prices.  But no big antenna systems or $1K HF radios are required.

There is one DMR repeater right here in the Village on 449.0375- Color Code 2 (KA6P), and another up on Blue Ridge on 446.0625- Color Code 2 (N6GGS).

I could go on for days talking about DMR and the fun that can be found. If you have so much as a hint of interest, please contact me (Patrick Stewart-KA6P), or Darrell (N6GGS) with any questions.

I can be reached at capturecom@gmail.com

Thanks,

Pat

For those of us who haven't looked into it, is there a good primer somewhere for DMR?

Thanks, WB6UUT

Here is a link that provides a lot of information:

http://www.pnwdigital.net/dmrgathering-2019/presentations/Seaside-2019-N7ER.pdf

It turns out, our repeaters are on the PNW Network, even though we aren't in the Pacific Northwest.  So reading the presentation, it all basically applies except for PNW-specific things like their repeaters.

I have a .pdf file that defines which Talk Groups we offer on our repeaters, but I can't seem to find a button that allows me to attach it.  I'd be happy to send it if you drop a note to my email address:  capturecom at gmail dot com

Likewise, any questions following your review of the info are always welcome.
