Here's a picture I have of the Arch from a little different angle.  It's a picture of my grandparents c. 1930.  Perhaps the Museum would be interested in some of our old photos:

THE MUSEUM SURE WILL BE INTERESTED IN THE PHOTOS. BUT, I ALSO HAVE ANOTHER IDEA. JUST RECENTLY I FINISHED A HISTORY PIECE ON THE ARSON OF THE SWARTHOUT VALLEY LODGE (BIG PINES RANGER STATION). AS YOU KNOW, IN THAT ARSON FIRE OF FEB 17, 1987, THE FIRE BURNED ALL OF THE HISTORICAL PHOTOS THAT MANY FOLKS DURING THE 1930-40'S HAD DONATED. RANGER DOUG MILBURN IS PAINSTAKINGLY TRYING TO REPLACE AS MUCH OF THE HISTORY AS HE CAN.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE, I CAN FORWARD THE PHOTOS TO HIM SO THEY CAN FIND A PLACE IN THE REMAINING BIG PINES CLUB HOUSE. WE CAN MAKE COPIES FOR THE MUSEUM ALSO.

When Christine Lange was a ranger up here she led history tours of Big Pines and would show pics (8x10) that were rescued from that fire.  Some were a little burnt, but she probably still has them.  Last I heard she is teaching Science in Hesperia.  I don't know how to get a hold of her.

There are quite a few pictures in the big room of Big Pines.  The inmates framed them & they look really nice.
