Does anyone have any history about a street named Ridley Court in Lone Pine Canyon? (Near
Sharpless Nielson Ranch)
Is there really such a street?
Why was it named Ridley?

Is Sharpless Ranch the lower one up against the ridge?
-
Yes, Sharpless Ranch is the lower ranch.

Check your map again.
I think you want the ranch below that.

I did a google search with "nielson ranch" + california and found the following link regarding Nielson Ranch and Wrightwood:
http://www.cosmos-eq.org/scripts/stnpage.plx?stations=255 (http://www.cosmos-eq.org/scripts/stnpage.plx?stations=255)
but when I tried to link, it said server not found. There is a cached page found here:
click here (http://209.85.173.104/search?q=cache:2IqqaqbPAg0J:www.cosmos-eq.org/scripts/stnpage.plx%3Fstations%3D255+%22nielson+ranch%22+%2B+California&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=7&gl=us).
Haven't gone deeply into the page yet, but appears to be an earthquake survey site.

Check your map again.
I think you want the ranch below that.
I'm fairly certain that I've got the right location.

That ranch on the map says "Nielsen Ranch."
The one below it says "Sharpless Ranch."
Check your map again.
I think you want the ranch below that.

Yes.. but I'm not sure what your point is

I'm sorry Nolena as I now understand why it was confusing. In my 1st post I said near the Sharpless Ranch and should have said near the Nielson Ranch.

I talked to Gary Hopkins, who caretakes the Clyde's Ranch...he's been there for many, many years. The dirt road that runs to the west of Neilsen's own entry gate originally was a forest service road. Gary had no idea how Ridley Court came about, but suggested that it could be a relative new dirt access road. Roy Sharpless bought his ranch from Clyde in 1920's and the Nielsens came along a few decades later and bought their spot from Sharpless. Before the 1920's the Clydes owned all of Lone Pine Canyon and down into parts of present day Blue Cut. They also owned the area of East Canyon and down into the Swarthout drainage at present day Desert Front Road. Early Wrightwood rancher Harry Heath later bought this particular property from the Clydes.

Thanks Terry - I've got someone from the county working on it and might be on to something.
It turns out that there is also a Ridley Court off Hwy 138 in West Cajon Valley ???
