Hopefully Smitty or Larry will see this post and respond.... They are WW's old jeep gurus...

I do know that the WW Jeep guys meet every Saturday morning at 7AM for breakfast at the Evergreen Cafe and that sometime upcoming in September, WW will have its Willys/Jeep Rally weekend... I'm not sure of the date yet but I expect Smitty (c_smith) to post the notice of this event soon.

Karen and I are looking forward to this event.

c._smith AKA Smitty here,

I love old Willys, which is what you have.  I play and putter on them all of the time but work full time so don't have the time or energy to take on a serious project.  I strongly suggest you take yours to Clark at Service on Site.  He just opened his new shop across from Jensens. He has my 1952 Willys Pickup there putting in the new engine we had rebuilt. He is very knowledgeable on old Jeeps/ Willys and very honest  I wouldn't trust many people with my pickup but I do trust him.

FYI, there is a great group of TRI- community Jeepers that meet every Saturday morning at the Evergreen Cafe at 7:00 to talk and joke Jeeps!

Our 5th Annual Wrightwood Willys & Jeep day is Saturday, September 27, in the parking lot between the banks.  The group has continued to grow sine we held our first one.  We have had people as far away as Arizona come up to join us.  the vintage and condition  of you vehicle is not important as it is not a show.  it is just a group of Willys and Jeep folk gathering to exchange information and enjoy the vehicles they had had so much fun in over the years. We always take a short cruise in the affternoon to show off our village and the surrounding area.  Please feel free to join us Saturday and plan to come to the 5th annual gathering September 27.

Thanks for the advice, Smitty.

Perhaps I'll see you at the Jeep show.

7AM at the Evergreen? A little to early for me. But, ya never know....

Smitty,
Can you join in even if you have a newer Jeep?

7:00 a.m. is a beautiful time of the day.  Everything is clean & cool with a promice of a great day ahead. Of course you can join us.  My son is a regular and he and his family have a brand new Rubicon.  We have three Rubicons that join us on a regular basis.  We even have some TOYOTA  owners join us in an effort to learn about the original 4X4 vehicle.... Actually we enjoy the camaraderie and good natured kidding about who has what and who broke what on their last run.  As I have mentioned it is just an nice way to start the weekend.  Twyla makes sure our coffee cups are full and we behave ourselves.

Come on down we will welcome you and hopefully you will enjoy it.

Glad to hear you have some Toyota folks there, since the FJ-40 IS the best stock 4X4 ever made. ;)

Not all of us can afford a FJ-40.  I had a Toyota Landcruiser in 1969.  Best true 4X4 in its day!  13 MPG wouldn't be affordable today!

Oh wow George I didn't know that. I had '70 FJ-40 and an '84 FJ-60. And Jeeps before that Smitty.

Clint,

I respect your opinion BUT, Willys made the first mass produced 4X4, which helped win WW11,  and they proved to be very durable & inexpensive.  The Old Willys are still around and still going Jeeping on Jeep trails all over America..... My 1952 CJ2a the first civilian Willys Jeep is still taking the trails and giving me a workout, (no power steering brakes or anything else)  while enjoying the beauty of the great outdoors that Jeep trails traverse.  My 1952 Willys 4X4 pickup just had her original engine replaced with the same vintage 4 banger.
I will pass them down to our Grandchildren who will continue to enjoy Jeeping...

I enjoy the bantering between the owners of the many 4X4 vehicles manufactured by so many differant companies as they all have some good points and some not so good.  I am the first to admire the Toyota and it's longevity but wonder why you got rid of your "old" Toyota.  FYI Toyota has announced they will not be building the FJ next year.... Better take a look at an old Willys or Jeep....

Try looking for a Toyota trail in your FJ....They are rare and hard to find but I am confident your FJ will help locate that allusive less traveled path..
