Title: Whole House Fan
Post by: typea2009 on Jul 25, 09, 06:04:41 PM
With the recent heat, I have decided to purchase the Quiet Cool whole house fan system for my home here in Wrightwood (two story, 1700 sq. ft.). I am curious if anyone else has this type of setup for those unbearable hot nights we get up here on occasion?
If so,  do you find that an excess of dust/pollen, etc. gets drawn into the house. I know people down below that have installed the same system with great success and minimal usage of their central A/C. I was also considering installing a Central A/C into the existing forced air heat ductwork, but it seems that the cost to install and operate for only a few weeks of the Summer wouldn't do it justice. Opinions?

When we bought our house we thought only ceiling fans would work, we bought 3. That didn't work so well. We installed an attic fan, that also didn't work so well. We finally installed central A/C, now our house is comfortable.  :) We should have gone with A/C to begin with. :2cents:

We have one of these fans and it is really great!  I'm always optimising the ceiling fan, whole house fan, and window combonation to cool part of the house at a time (upstairs/downstrairs).  It is really a drastic difference and I'm not seeing any issues with dust, pollen, or dirt.
