The birds flying in the trees that look like Blue Jays - I was once told they were Scrub Jays but are they really Steller's Jays?
-
We have Steller's Jay and Scrub Jay.

I have only seen one scrub jay at our feeders 6 years. We are at about 6000' does that have anything to do with it?
-
I see both types, especially when I go outside bearing peanuts. Many more Steller's Jays, though. I'm at about 6400'.

The Stellers show up at my feeder when I put peanuts out for the squirrels. I'm across the street from the school.

Can anyone tell us what morning bird is squawking like MAD!!! They start at 4:30 in the morning!!!
They won't shut up! We like to sleep with our window open but hate being woken up by these annoying birds! lol!

Jason, are they making a raspy (but not crow sounding) and occasional quick 'chirping' sounds. My blue jays sit on the branch outside my kitchen window as early as 5 and yell at me to feed them peanuts. One of them has a weird thing on his beak that makes it look thin and tapered and looks like a 'v'.
I ran out of peanuts this morning and sent them down to you. I told them you were a chef and you would provide them with gourmet peanuts. :) I need to get some more peanuts. One of the Jays has begun to fly at the door making a knocking noise.

Ha ha!
Okay, I'll get busy making candied peanuts tonight for them. But please send them after 7 am. ;)
Actually the birds we hear do not sound like the Jays. A co-worker said it might be Mocking Birds ???
