Another option:  You can donate a check to help finance this program:  Your purchases and / or contributions are tax deductible

They are only deductible if you are a non-profit 501c3 or similar organization.

How can I buy the 3-day survival packs? I won't be in town on the 16th.

We should plan to have a major disaster up here sometime in our future.

 :o
I think I'll pass.  ;)

It was an excellent presentation that every resident of this community should attend.

Wish I could have attended - I was stuck at work in Apple Valley, and I musta said 200 times, "I NEED TO WIN THE LOTTERY".  Not a good morning, I would much rather have been here.

Wow! Capt. Bennett should be commended for the time and  effort he gives to this community. I learned a lot today. He gave me the info I need to feel confident I might be able to help someone in an emergency. It was great to see a concerned mom there with her 11 yr. old son taking the class. Using a fire extinguisher for the first time was amazing. Thanks Wayne!

I attended too and it was a tremendous learning experience. Captain Bennett is a great instructor. If you have the opportunity to attend this class in the future, I highly recommend it!

We were not able to attend the fundraiser last Saturday.  I hope it was a success.

Anyone know how much money has been raised so far?  Certainly Katrina should have us all thinking about planning for our own emergencies.

Nearly $4,000 was raised. A few hundred was rasied towards the Katrina disaster.

We were not able to attend the fundraiser last Saturday. I hope it was a success.

Reading the threads on disaster preparedness and the Katrina incident really has made our family look at our own situation.  Thanks for keeping this on the forefront.

I attended the Disaster Preparedness / Survival Skills class in Wrightwood yesterday. It was absolutely awesome! I think everyone - yes, EVERYONE - should attend this class.

The information is up-to-date and extremely helpful - I know it will be useful in any emergency situation, not just an earthquake or fire.

I highly recommend this class for everyone, including teens. Bennett is a great teacher and keeps you interested and enthused about what you're learning.

In fact, if your child is old enough to be left at home alone, they are old enough to take this class - My 14-yr old son will be required to take it when it comes up again. Just knowing what to do and what your options are in an emergency can keep the panic down and allow you to put your skills and common sense to work.

Watch this thread, as well as the newspaper, for details on the next class.

KW I'm glad to hear you attended.
This program should be required for all residents and especially stay at home moms/dads/youths.

People should not be hung up on the cost involved as it's a donation. 100% of the funds goes towards filling Wrightwood's disaster supply trailer located in the county yard.

The Community, the Lions, and San Bernardino County have contributed $24,000 to fill the first Wrightwood Emergency Supply Container located in the village across Highway 2 from the Fire Station.  This container will be open and on display during Wildfire Awareness Day, Saturday, May 13.

Yesterday Chuck Nelson and son Kristian apply a primer coat to supply container that will house the emergency supplies.
