MT. WILSON HISTORY at HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Donald (Don) Nicholson, Associate Director for External Affairs of the Mount Wilson Institute will be guest speaker at the next meeting of the Wrightwood Historical Society on Friday, September 5 at 1 pm in the Museum meeting room (Old Firehouse), 6000 Cedar St., in Wrightwood.  Nicholson is the son of Dr. Seth B. Nicholson of the early Mount Wilson Observatory and has had a life-long association with that Observatory.  His presentation will include the early days of Mt. Wilson, the people who served there, and some of the important discoveries that were made there.  He will also touch on some of the plans for the Observatory.  His present interests are with the history of astronomy in the 20th century and the encouragement of public interest and participation in astronomy.

The program is free and everyone is welcome.  There will be light refreshments.
WHS President and officers are to be commended for continuing to bring interesting and knowledgeable speakers to Wrightwood, enhancing the history education of all who come to hear them.  For those who happen to miss a meeting or two, all of the presentations are kept on DVDs which may be viewed in the Museum.
