This sign was found under the roof shingles, used as a patch!

I was at the Jackson Lake Rock House today and the Historicorp and the California Conservation Corp crews are making good progress on the restoration.  This old historical building was originally where a Ranger lived at the West Gate entrance to Big Pines Los Angeles Camp and was constructed in the 1920's.  I remember Joann Webb was the last Forest Service employee to live there full time back in 1990. It is commonly referred to as the Jackson Lake House but I have always known it as the "West Gate"

amazing sign! I am so glad this project is happening. That structure is beautiful.

I'm glad too, but can't help wonder how long this newly refurbished building will stay that way before vandals have their way with it again. Is there a plan to somehow protect the building or access to it?

You really cant make a museum out of it.   Its so remote that not many folks would visit plus already theres stuff being stolen.  I guess they can try to return it to its original use but its barely on the grid.
