I have trees starting to leaf out due to this warm weather. I am concerned about what's going to happen if we have a long spell of below freezing weather. I'm at 4800' in Pinon Hills. Anyone else noticing this early spring? Cheryl o7o

I also live in PH at 4000' and I have a nectarine and an apple tree that started to bloom last week. Hard freeze (which we will probably have) will be bad.

We need winter, for the trees, the dormancy, and all of the vegetation and flora and fauna.
It may feel nice, but we will suffer later if we don't get enough water.

Yup.. a hard freeze is likely going to come. I went to the nursery on Johnson anyway today. Bought a dormant crepe myrtle, lavender, & rosemary. The prices there are great! They should all do well here regardless of what comes. The Oregon Grape is in full bloom. It always blooms in Feb/Mar.. it's just a few weeks early this year. Cheryl o7o

The crocuses are coming up in our backyard (6100'). No help on the long-term weather models, either. Next chance of a storm isn't until 2/21, which is the edge of predictability, and it's tropical if it comes. >:(
