Title: Mt. High needs to close!
Post by: Lancelot on Mar 16, 20, 01:10:12 AM
It's entirely irresponsible for Mt. High  to stay open, snow or no snow, during this coronavirus crisis. We  have had no cases that I no of in Wrightwood. The chances are exponentially increased by inviting and accepting an influx of folks from "down the hill". Mt. High needs to CLOSE DOWN!

As a concerned citizen, I believe you can call Mtn High or send an email on their website...perhaps if enough people do it, they will close.

Mtn High is usually patronized mostly by athletic kids who are the least likely to get infected.  A lot of them wear ski masks.  Only when they rent equipment, have lunch and use the restroom are they in closed quarters.  Otherwise they are in the open air of the slopes.

Nope, "those kids" might be carrying the virus with no symptoms and will most likely be okay. But when I went to Jensen's on Saturday, it was packed with mostly "those kids".  I believe Mt High should follow Mammoth's lead and close.

It appears that they have closed.

Even though Mtn. High closed, there is another, bigger issue that nobody wants to explore....
what about the dozens of people who daily go down the hill to work, shop, etc...and come back up here?
We are real quick to point out our neighbor further up the hill, but what about our neighbors next door?
We all have a responsibility not only to our families, but to our neighbors as well....we all shop up here and we want to blame others from down the hill, but we are
to blame as well if we don't stay home....i get it...some have to work...but every day i see dozens of cars through the day leaving down hwy 2....
Don't think they are all going to work.

Nobody wants to discuss it? I hear it discussed daily. Also, what do you mean by neighbors UP the hill that we are quick to point out? I don't understand that.

Do you live in a household with family? I live alone, and this new lifestyle is rough. 2 days a week I must report to work down the hill, the other 5 days I look forward to one drive-thru meal per day joined with a trip to Stater's to buy stuff for my other meals, simply to break the monotony of being in the house.

There's no place in WW to "hang out", so folks like me would only visit Jensen's, hardware, and PO. Since libraries are closed and I've exhausted my Redbox options, I'm considering a visit to the bookstore on Park, I suspect the owner would appreciate the business. Outside of work and one friend near work, I don't socialize.

If you are freaked by the knowledge that people like me exist, aggressively defend yourself with gloves, a facemask, and wipes when you go out.

I am in the same situation as Cheapskate only I don't leave for work as I currently work from home. I am basically 95%+ hermit as "hanging out" in this town was bad for my health before the virus. Especially after I quit drinking a few years ago... I have wanted to take a trip to Del Taco for a few weeks now but I think I am the only person that does not see takeout as essential. It puzzles me quite frankly that these businesses are operating. As difficult as it may be it seems staying home is what is required to get through this with as few deaths as possible. I am struggling a bit as trips to grocery shop, etc are basically the only live human interaction I ever get these days. It is rough. Thankfully I have pets. And yes, we all should defend ourselves while out for essentials. (Sorry this is so off topic but relevant to comments)
