I have confirmed that we don't have cell service for Verizon or T-Mobile this evening. Anyone else having this issue, or do you know what's going on?

No T Mobile service.... cell tower down?

We have Google Fi, which works off multiple towers, so we are rarely down. Earlier this evening we got notifications that voice service was down, but we could still message. Haven't checked it lately.

Verizon is definitely down.
It probably means that T-Mobile and Verizon both lease the same "shared" tower, and it's probably up to the tower owner to fix it.

Verizon is definitely down.
It probably means that T-Mobile and Verizon both lease the same "shared" tower, and it's probably up to the tower owner to fix it.
With the UIA outage, this means that T-Mobile, Verizon and UIA have fiber in the same bundle, passing through whatever was vandalized.
It says a lot when only one of the three has a backup circuit.

Hi all. I have a lengthy post regarding the UIA and Verizon outage which now are proven to be vandalism and there appears to point to a person who others have reported for erratic behavior. Attack on a FCC communications hub is an arrestable offense, but we need more proof of the disturbed individuals behavior. If you have had an interaction with this person, know details about their name and address, or have made a report or call to the sheriff, please PM me with that info. As much detail as possible would be helpful. Who did you report it to? When? What was the deputy's name? Did they come out? What occurred? Apparently, other reports have not necessarily met the burden of proof for arrest. Please tag friends who have had a run in or issue with this person and have them PM me.

My AT&T has worked every time I have looked at my cell phone today. It's OK right now. Laura, I really appreciate your updates. The service provided by UIA is outstanding! :2thumbsup:

The person who vandalized UIA's line and cut Verizon lines has been reported to be walking around town with some kind of cutters. If you see him, please call 911 and report. The sheriff is up here investigating the vandalism complaint, but we need to be fly buzzing around their face. Pictures and video of him right now is helpful.

My first outage of UIA, hence my computer, was around 2am. At the same time, my Sprint cell went down, announcing it was "looking for service." No voice or text available. I strongly suspected it was directly related to whatever was causing the UIA outage. People I consulted blamed my old phone.
When UIA came back online the first time, my phone was still out of service. This aft, when UIA came back online w/full power, my Sprint cell phone went back to normal operations. Whew!!
It is very disconcerting/frightening to have our communication system so vulnerable. Thank you, UIA, for getting to this so quickly and, yes, we need to be alert at all times re: the culprit. These actions can endanger all our lives.

Spectrum went to the expense to pull a big fat bundle of fiber, with lots of extra capacity, which they then sell to others.
We can only find out how many independent services are in that fiber when it's damaged somehow.
It says a lot about UIA having a backup feed so they can switch over.
It says even more that AT&T, SPRINT, T-MOBILE and VERIZON don't have a backup.
I have a (very cheap) VoIP line just in case the cells go down (like they did during the 31 hour power outage), and it may be worth it to some to get an amateur radio license, just in case everything goes down.
