PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Summary
The Lone Pine Canyon Road Quarry proposes to implement a Reclamation Plan (Project)
following mining operations at Lone Pine Canyon Road Quarry, an existing vested mine for
limestone located on approximately 285-acre (including setbacks) of a 420-acre site. The site
consists of three non-contiguous parcels:
APN 0356-231-02: total of 320 acres; mining and reclamation occurs on: 198 acres
APN 0356-241-02; total of 12.85 acres; mining and reclamation occurs on: 10.7 acres
APN 0356-241-03; total of 90 acres; mining and reclamation occurs on: 70.1 acres
The project involves the parcels APNs 0356-231-02, 0356-241-02, and -03 (referred to herein
collectively as Project Site). The site is located near the unincorporated area of San Bernardino
County known as Wrightwood.

Is there a public comment period? I have some major concerns including truck traffic and air quality. I grew up near the cement plant in Riverside and the silica dust from the mining operations caused major health issues.

Planning Staff and the Project Proponent will attend the Wrightwood Fire Safe Council meeting on April 21, 2026. The project proponent has a 10-15 min presentation they would like to present and will be prepared to answer questions. Additionally, the Environmental Document is currently being circulated for review and public comment. The deadline for public comments on the CEQA document is April 22, 2026 and the public can comment by emailing me at Derek.Newland@lus.sbcounty.gov

Is there a public comment period? I have some major concerns including truck traffic and air quality. I grew up near the cement plant in Riverside and the silica dust from the mining operations caused major health issues.
As I read the documents, the mining claim is permanent, and the County can't stop it directly.
This is about the mitigation/remediation plan. If that can be stopped, then there is a chance they can't mine.
The remediation plan runs through the year 2175.
