Wrightwood History now has a website and is ready for visitors.
The website features over 55 detailed documents by Wrightwoodian George Tillitson.
George, Forum member "tiltronix" has spent years researching, compiling and preparing
the Wrightwood Roots newsletters.
The Wrightwood Roots documents are in PDF format and require that your computer have
the Free Acrobat Reader installed. (A link is provided to download the Free Acrobat Reader)

The Historical site is really interesting, I do hope they keep posting the articles and adding some pictures. We moved to Wrightwood in the early 50's so some of the history I remember when it happened and knew some of the people but not their histories.

Anyone familiar with the tent site properties? That's where people bought property to camp on (in a tent) when they came up here for a vacation.
-
Great stuff - good job

George Tillitson has made 4 additional Wrightwood Roots newsletters available.
The latest 4 newsletters cover The Toll Road Through Cajon Pass.
(See the bottom of the page for Feb-Mar-Apr-May 2004)

Now that's what I'm talking about...
Great Photos!

RobertW,
Were there any fish ever in Wright Lake?
-
Thank you, John. I am writing this from Deerwood, Minnesota. The pix look good!
-
RobertW,
Were there any fish ever in Wright Lake?
There were no fish in Wright's lake in the 60's. They had already dumped mounds of dirt, cement and debris in it. Still there were several very large "pools" of water that had plenty of tadpoles and frogs!

Does anyone want more old Wrightwood pictures or Wrightwood Roots on the website? I would like to know if I should generate more WW history on the web??? The comments have been few and time spaced.
-
More, More!!! I love finding this stuff out. Sorry if I haven't told you how great it is. Don't stop feeding us local history.
-
I love looking at the old pictures! I'd like to see more.

Does anyone want more old Wrightwood pictures or Wrightwood Roots on the website? ...
Definitely!
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU!!!
-
I 2nd the motion...please, we need more!
Merry Christmas to one and all, and thanks for making this such a great place to live!

Are we ever to get new Wrightwod Roots???
-
This is great stuff! Plases don't stop posting roots or photos.
It's one of those things you read and kind of absorb...But don't feel like cluttering it up with comments at the moment...But a few weeks later you find yourself looking at a corner building in town and drawing on what you remeber...

I keep hoping there will be another year of Wrightwood Roots appear on the website. There will be an additional six-months worth waiting in the wings!
-
If you want it done so bad, why don't you volunteer to the webmaster to do it? Then you won't have to wait so long. ;)
-
I provided the Webmaster with another year's worth last year. That's why I'm proding!!!!
-
That darn webmaster of ours is really slacking off lately. Doesn't he realize that their are 24 hours in a day, so he can work more than the 18 hours a day he is working now. ;)

tiltronix has been patient and puts in a great deal of effort into the Wrightwood Roots newsletters. It was last July when he brought by two floppies.
I'll see what I can do George as I know you enjoy sharing the history with everyone.
-
The wait is over !!
12 new Roots have been added to the History website

I really enjoyed "The Padres' Gold by William Bristol". I have prospected and hiked all over Lytle Creek, and could relate to this story. I can hardly wait to read the rest of the stories!
THANKS GEORGE!!!! :)
-
Thank you, John!
-
If you haven't looked at the Wrightwood history website, you should, there is a wealth of information there.
-
To Wrightwood...
I looked all over the home page and there are no links I found to the history page. Is this something you considered and ruled out ???
-
I'll do that next time I'm updating the home page.
Thanks

What time is the meeting today?
