Title: SCE Rates
Post by: gypsywolf on Jul 22, 06, 12:12:33 PM
The 5th tier in the SCE rate structure is going into effect August 1st.

It will be 200% or more of baseline.

You are now paying .312 cents per Kwh for that amount of usage.

After August 1st you will be paying .482 cents per Kwh.

That is a huge jump of .17 cents per Kwh!!

Shouldn't impact anyone using less than 200% of baseline, but for those that use over, it is going to have a big impact.

You can check your current bill to see where your usage falls and if you will be impacted or not..

I just got my bill for the past month. It was $156. I've been averaging about $50-70 a month for the past year. (2 people household).

Anyway, I called SCE and found out they adjusted my baseline rate, retroactive for the past 3 months, meaning they jacked on about $40, for those months that are long gone. I guess, they have the right to do that, which I think is BS.

My baseline rate went from 17 KW/per day to 10 KW/per day... which is a huge decrease in allotted use at the lowest rate. This is going to cost us alot more every month.

I'm curious what others baseline rates are in town.  I expect them to vary, but I really have no idea how different they may be.

thanx

80 bucks a month at my house for the last 3 months.  4 people household. 2 Pond pumps are always running, washer and dryer every day, air compressor is used alot (power tools) but all our light bulbs are energy efficient.
