And who was in charge of removing the arch over highway 2 at Big Pines?

Respectfully I would question if that 1938 Big Pines Recreation Camp building was actually in Big Pines Park. Looking north, you can see the ridge line of Table Mountain in the picture. (look at it's shape. no ridge is like that in the Park that was a south facing slope). Looking at the ground area around the structure itself, it looks to have been around the flat area of present day Apple St, and Snowbird. It's interesting though. The Los Angeles Time had briefly mentioned a 'clubhouse area', in the Wrightwood area...different than the rec hall adjacent to the Wrightwood Lodge, which burned down in May of '37. I wonder if this was the structure. But it was mentioned as they were getting ready for the Winter Snow Carnival in the 30's, that was hosted by Wrightwood.

1925
A view of the supervisor's cabin among the trees at Big Pines Camp. The cabin has a stone chimney. Big Pines Recreation Camp (elevation 6,862) was developed in 1923 by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and the Department of Parks and Recreation.

Postcard showing cabins behind the lodge. They are now gone, but stairs give you an idea where they were...

Don't recall if this one has been posted:

1925 William Davidson (left), chief mechanical engineer, and Fred E. Wadsworth, Los Angeles County Superintendent, survey in preparation for the masonry construction of the large entrance into Big Pines Camp.

John, I know you were looking for maps like this. Here is a 1936 map if you don't have it. Shows a lot of structures in big pines. I have it in PDF if you want me to email. Its much larger. I also have this 1925 AAA map.

I have been in contact with some surviving family members from certain LA county board of supervisors. I am starting to receive never seen before photos of Camp Mcclellan. I should have a bunch more very soon, but here are a couple from the mid 20's. Cabin 5,7,8 are shown here.

I would love to see some construction ones as well.

I have a theory these were built at different times, perhaps over 2-3 years. What is interesting is that cabin 5 was owned by Woodley, cabin 4 was owned by Graves. Graves took office after Woodley. He took Woodleys place. So the question I have, were these built for each person as they came here? Or was a group of cabins built and handed out as seen fit? Or were all these guys buddies?

Lastly, there are two graded pads that were never developed on. Indicating the possibility of more cabins being built at one time. Lots of questions! LOL

I really want to thank Barb. She is the one that supplied a map of our cabins with names of the original owners. This has opened up the flood gates in terms of research. She is forever in my gratitude.

Here are some pictures from the Frashers Foto collection/database hosted by the Pomona Public Library: http://content.ci.pomona.ca.us/databases.php .  They host these photos and they don't make it easy to link them here, so save them and host them if you wish:
