So....does the County have any intentions of enforcing the NO PARKING signs when snow conditions exist, or not?  I have at least 2 vehicles parked on my street that haven't moved in days and the plow just keeps going around them. At some point the road is going to become impassable.  >:(

Is it just me, or are most of these posted where the pavement is too narrow to allow parking anyway?

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Angeles Crest Highway Remains Indefinitely Closed While Caltrans Begins Repairs and Addresses Storm Damage

ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST ― Caltrans continues debris removal and emergency repairs along State Route 2 (Angeles Crest Highway/SR-2) following recent heavy rains that triggered landslides, rockfalls and slope erosion, damaging multiple sections of the highway in the Angeles National Forest.

The closure affects nearly 30 miles of SR-2, covering the section from 3.3 miles east of Newcomb’s Ranch to Big Pines Highway. The highway will remain closed indefinitely as conditions vary along the corridor and crews continue to evaluate and repair damage.

Caltrans is addressing storm-related damage through three emergency repair projects, totaling $16.8 million. Crews are still assessing the corridor, with roughly 40 locations already identified for repair along the highway. Planned work includes:

Installing k-rail around washed out shoulders and roadways
Installing temporary traffic signals at traffic restriction locations for one-way traffic control
Repairing eroded slopes and embankments beneath the roadway
Reconstructing shoulders and slopes to original design grades
Providing appropriate erosion control measures to prevent further damage

Caltrans urges motorists to plan ahead and avoid the closure area. Updates will be provided as work progresses.

For real-time updates on road conditions and closures, please visit Caltrans QuickMap.

Hot Topics / Lone Pine Canyon Status & Re-evaluated post December Storms
« Last post by Wrightwood on Jan 29, 26, 03:23:36 PM »
There were a few questions brought up at the last Fire Safe Council meeting
Response to the two questions for DPW:

What is the status of Lone Pine Canyon, when can residents anticipate it being reopened?  - Status & Anticipated Reopening – Environmental requirements are currently pending and are expected to be completed in early February. Once received, final plans and specifications will be prepared, with completion anticipated by mid-March. The project would then move into the advertising phase in mid-March, with contractor onboarding expected in early May. Construction is estimated to take approximately one month, with completion targeted for the end of May. Please note that the Department of Public Works is committed to expediting the schedule and may shorten timelines if opportunities arise during the process.

Will the current Bridge Fire WERT Report be re-evaluated post December Storms to ensure the validity of the current timeline & thresholds identified? - Yes. The current Bridge Fire WERT Report will be re-evaluated following the December 2025 storm events to confirm that the identified timelines and rainfall thresholds remain valid. The California Geological Survey (CGS) plans to analyze runoff and watershed response from the December 2025 storms as part of this re-evaluation. Based on these findings, CGS will issue updated rainfall thresholds to better reflect post-storm conditions. These revised thresholds are anticipated to be released in the spring of 2026 and will be incorporated into the County's planning for emergency responses.
