Help Save Johnson Valley OHV (The Hammers)!!

Everybody,
  Please take a minute of your time to help out and send the letter.
The Hammers are very close to our heart. We caught the offroad bug a few years ago when I first inherited my Bronco II. Ever since then we have been building it bigger and stronger to be able to wheel the Hammers. Blood, sweat and tears have gone into every vehicle that is capable enough to run the Hammers. I am a Cal4Wheel and also a Victor Valley 4 Wheelers member. The VV4W's started these trails many many years ago. There has been alot of time and hard work put into them. Its the "Mecca" of offroading. It would be like the buggy guys losing Glamis or Dumont!

Having spent more time than I care to remember driving roads not much better than this (the last time this past week) for work, I have to admit, I cannot understand the thought of this being enjoyable recreation. To each their own I guess!  Oh, and it was sooo much fun changing the tire in freezing winds in the Zuni mountains-NOT!

Some folks like the sand or the mud or just trail driving out in the desert. When we first started, places like this seemed insane. But after wheeling places like the Rubicon and the Dusy Ershim not to mention local trails like Calico and Big Bear. You start to strive for more of a challenge. Anything on the Hammers is super tough. If your rig is hand built, its not only a challenge but a personal thing that you and your rig can do it!

Of course to each thier own. But its not just about how tough and nasty the trails are... its about losing our public land and places to wheel, camp and explore. Johnson Valley is just not about hardcore rock crawling. There are miles of trails for hiking and ATV use too. Sand washes to explore and a great place to camp.
