Ya I wish I was special like them. ::) It's looking north from Inspiration Point.
There were several other hiking groups doing the same.
When I asked why they were walking on a closed road, I got a variety of responses.
From "Well, it's a beautiful trail. "Everybody else is doing it". to "What sign?
I think the fine is 5k.
wish i was a ranger, I'd be rich!

Maybe they should spend more money and make the signs in Spanish too?

Although I understand why they close trails, I don't think the USFS should be responsible for my safety when hiking on rough or damaged trails.  the lawyers did it.

IMHO, they are trying to avoid the expense required for search and rescue if someone ends up missing in that area.

Why is it more expensive for search and rescue to look for someone in that area compared to the rest of the forest?

Why not close the whole forest and avoid the expense all together?

I don't think that's the reason.............  ???

You are entitled to your opinion and I am entitled to my opinion. The costs are probabley the same but there may be trail damage due to the fire and combating the fire in that area.
