Camping

I live over in the arrowhead crestline area, basically I was thinking about camping out in wrightwood this weekend , coming in friday evening and leaving on sunday.

I havent been out that way in a long while and was wondering how much it was per night

Pretty much ive been out there once since I was a kid. has to be the most fantastic camping experience ever ( was about 5 at the time) I wandered off a bit  and still remember the forest was all green and vibrant with the golden sunbeams popping through the trees, and there was one tree that was covered completely with ladybugs from trunk to branches. I remember sticking my finger in there and it just kept going it was that thick with them.

and of course last time I went I had a nice quite time with some friends. I cant help sharing that story with people when I talk about wrightwood though but any info about camping would be very much appreciated.

;D You have made my week, thankyou very much.

I heard they closed silverwood camping due to budget cuts and was concerned I wouldn't be able to find camping anywhere this weekend.

We still have the lady bugs, but you'll have to come again later!

If you use the forum search, there are previous threads so you can figure out when that might be.

I would guess more likely during spring perhaps.

Almost forgot to ask, if anyone knows at the sites where its adventure pass only needed, if fires are allowed right now.

Yes, to my knowldge campfires are curently permitted. You can get a campfire permit at the Big Pines Visitor center.

Campfires within established campgrounds and within provided campfire rings do NOT require a Campfire Permit.  You are allowed to have such fires.

A Camp Fire Permit will allow you to have Gas, Propane and Sterno fires outside of established campgrounds.  Hibachi, Briquet and wood Campfires are NOT allowed outside of provided campfire rings in established campgrounds.

I am looking for a place to camp with as little human contact as possible without putting myself into a precarious situation.  I would like somewhere with solitude available, but have some ammenities like toilets, showers, etc, with tentsites and ability to make heated meals.  Any suggestions?

locally, your best bet for solitude and some basic amenities would be Lupine, Campground.... 9 miles out Blue Ridge Rd (which is broken pavement- then dirt... but usually OK for most vehicles)

You're not going to find showers at any campsites on the Angeles Forest. But there are fire rings, picnic tables and pit toilets at this location.  Bring water, as there is none down there... as well as your Adventure Pass.

If that's too rough for you, many of the other campgrounds in the area are pretty quiet during midweek.

Table Mountain is nice if you want to be able to drive to town. Beautiful views there.
