I'm pretty surprised that he responded this way; on the other hand, he has been making certain gaffes lately (the $10,000 bet, for instance) that show a very different way of seeing the world. I doubt that any other candidate, GOP or otherwise, would make this statement.

I'm not a Romney fan, it's a bit funny that something he said in 2005 has come back to bite him. I'm sure he'll continue to get reminders for his stupid comment every time he attempts to run for President.

I have a concern with a public figure who would dismiss anything without any knowledge to base it on.  "No, we don't need to deal with ham radio operators..." - quite a slap in the face to such a large group.  Of course he knows better now, but a lesson to not make a judgment on something you don't know anything about.

I guess I shouldn't bring up him driving his family with his dog in an "airtight" kennel on the roof of his car - since we're not allowed to talk politics.  Maybe that discussion belongs in the "pet" section.  ;D

I want to point out that on that 12 hr family trip with the dog in a kennel on the roof of his station wagon, the dog got diarrhea, filled the kennel and it ran down the back window of the car.
Sorry for the visual folks, but this is the mentality/judgement we are dealing with here...
