Short video of the 2013 fall out planting effort on Santa Barbara Island. This work is funded by the Montrose Settlements Restoration Program in an effort to increase the nesting habitat of threatened seabird species including the Scripp's Murrelet, Cassin's Aucklet, and Ashy Storm Petrel. Contact the California Institute of Environmental Studies for more information.

Great video.. SkiBob.. loved the soundtrack. There's also an interesting  piece in the LAT today about how the EPA is holding back on the SuperFund restoration on the Palos Verdes Shelf.. that was the place that Montrose dumped all that toxic waste off the Ca Coast. It was part of Montrose's settlement that required them to do these plantings and other mitigation for their dumping. I guess they now think that somehow the ocean is eating all that toxic stuff. I dunno.. maybe that is plausible on one level. Not to me .. but maybe. And, you still can't eat any fish you catch there.  Much less eat the bottom feeders.

I remember reading the EIR's for the coast from a bit back. The ones that said there are no fish between Alaska and Central America that do not have toxins from all the dumping and sewage effluent. But, great soundtrack  and I'm happy to see some results from the settlement that will restore native habitats.  cheryl o7o
