anybody with a wheel chair that's just sitting around?
« on: Jun 11, 15, 02:11:12 PM »
Hi,
I am in need of a wheel chair - mostly to get me around the airport next weekend and then the same in the other direction a few weeks later. After that I hopefully will never need it again  :-)
The insurance is in the process of getting one for me but with those slow moving wheel it might not happen in time. I so thought I might just ask around if there is somebody out there with one that I could borrow or - if it's just collecting dust - take off your hands. And I would definitely don't mind paying something for it.
Cheers, Merlin

Merlinsilk... if someone doesn't come up with a wheelchair for you.. call your airline and ask for "special assistance" to get to the gate and board the aircraft. They will want to know if you are able to walk to and from your seat. That is for safety reasons. And, they should be able to help you with the same at your destination.
And, if you do find a wheelchair.. the airline will need to know in advance.  So, have a great trip.. cheryl o7o

Thanks, tcaarabians,
what I am trying to solve is getting from the parking to the check-in counter. That wheelchair would go back home and wait till I get back  :)
Cheers,
Merlin

What she said.  Call your airline and tell them you require curbside wheel chair assistance.  Someone will meet you at your airlines curb and take you through to the gate.  They will have a wheel chair and assistance waiting when you get off the plane at your destination as well.

Yup, Jim is right. Added bonus is you will likely be whisked through security and have priority boarding.   You can also request a seat near the bathrooms. They won't seat you in an emergency aisle (my favorite because I'm tall).  Here's hoping your walking issue is resolved soon.  cheryl o7o

This is so cool - thanks for the info. I did ask my travel agent, if they have something like picking me up at the curb, but she did not know about that.

Get a new travel agent or just call the airline directly yourself.  In a former life, in a galaxy far, far away..  I was a travel agent.  The airlines do assist you .. but ya gotta call them in advance. cheryl o7o
