I've watched my neigbor, Harmony Latham grow up from the time she came home from the hospital. Raised right here in Wrightwood, she is now a straight A College Senior and looking forward to making her mark in the world when she graduates. She is currently competing in the Miss Rodeo USA competition until this Sunday in Oklahoma. One of the pieces of this Rodeo Queen contest is the People's Choice award which is done on line. All you have to do is click on the link-it takes you to Harmony's photo and like it. That's all. Won't you take a moment to let Harmony know that there still are people out there that support doing things the right way and being nice while doing it. Thanks Jim Wilkins.

Harmony Latham, Lifetime Wrightwood resident, was crowned Miss Rodeo USA at the International Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City, OK today.  She competed in a week long competition against ten others and was presented the Queen's crown and ribbon in front of a packed rodeo arena.  She will serve for a year and has a full schedule of travel and appearance over the next 365 days.

Harmony was crowned yesterday in front of a packed International Finals Rodeo audience after six days of intense competition.  Here's a few photos:

What Harmony dreamed about and set her goal for since she was sixteen years old

For the next year, Harmony as an extensive travel itinerary representing rodeo and IPRA.  Having known her since she was an infant, we never doubted she would achieve what she set out to do.

Bravo for Harmony!  In looking at IPRA's website, Im surprised that they are not involved in any altruistic projects. Harmony now has something that only a few could ever get - influence.   Harmony can really set herself apart from other queens by starting some sort of charity program for some indigent part of the country.  Wouldnt it be cool if she started raising funds for a children hospital somewhere where its desperately needed?

Her platform at the Queen Contest was Reading for Kids and that is something she will incorporate throughout her year as she travels around the country.  There are very strict guidelines she has to adhere to regarding affiliating with charities and causes and she gave a great deal of thought to what she chose.
