Wrightwood Market
We are deeply saddened to tell you of the passing of a great man. Raymond Rezek left this world June 21, 2023. I could go on and on about him and his influence in my life, starting as far back as the summer of 1976 when he and his family moved to Wrightwood and became friends with my family. He was the person who told me about my brothers death. He never gave me a hard time when I yelled at him while I quit my job as a whiny ass kid. He spoke to me at length when we were ready to buy a small market in Montana. He answered the phone endlessly when we bought the mini mart from him. I often thought “how is this guy so rock steady and so nice?”. Honestly. He Loved to cook. He loved to chat. He Loved his wife and he loved his family and friends. Raymond lived such a good life. He was a wonderful example of a person to follow. We lost a wonderful friend and the world lost a wonderful man. We will miss him dearly.

I thought it appropriate to post this to the group, Ray was involved with a lot, here.
He moved into town in 1975 and worked weekends at Holiday Foods, cutting meat. Soon others figured out that he was capable of a lot and he started to get stretched thinner and my father figured he better do something to keep him around. in perhaps '77 he became a partner in the market and he had big plans. By February 1979 he and my father had opened the new Holiday Food (which became Jensen's). Ray was also the owner of the Chevron station which burned to the ground. It was located next to Jensen's/now Wrightwood Finest Foods. He sold Holiday Foods to Jensens in 1995 but was back at work over at the old 76 gas station by 1997, with the Wrightwood Mini-Mart. He retired in 2015. He touched a lot of lives, employed a lot of people and asked for nothing in return.
