2004 and last fire season should be a wake up call for all of us on the high desert and in the mountains.  Oak Springs Valley, Wild horse canyon, West Cajon, Phelan, Pinon Hills and many parts of Wrightwood are all vulnerable to fire.  This year we have a fraction of the resources available that we have had in years past.  Your fire could very well be the one where there will be no helicopters or air tankers available.  Clearance around your home is really not an option if you want it to survive.
