Does anyone happen to have the recipe for his "Magic" Window cleaner?  Sure would appreciate finding it again.
Thanks,
YB

This past weekend I pulled window washing duty from my boss, err I mean my better half. I ran out of the store bought glass cleaner and was too lazy to put on non-work clothes and go to the store to buy some more. I found a recipe to make your own glass cleaner in an old book I had. I had never tried it before, but since I had all the stuff that it called for I decided to give it a try. Let me tell you this stuff worked better than the name brand stuff. Our windows were filthy from not being cleaned all winter and this homemade cleaner cleaned them spotless with no streaks. I used the empty store brand sprayer to mix the batch of cleaner and it probably cost less than twenty cents to fill the quart bottle. So if you want to save a couple bucks, here is the formula to make one quart:

1 oz. sudsy ammonia
4 oz. rubbing alcohol
3/4  teaspoon liquid dish detergent
fill the remainder of the bottle with water and mix together

If you want to make a gallon of the glass cleaner:

4 oz. sudsy ammonia
1 pint (16 oz.) rubbing alcohol
1 tablespoon liquid dish detergent
fill the remainder of the gallon with water and mix together

It is hard to believe that the brand names charge so much for their product when it is so cheap to make.

A very worthy cleaning potion that is made even more effective by adding a dollop of the rinsing/sheeting liquid you put in the top of the dishwasher.  Makes the windows even less prone to streaking.

Many thanks Wrightwood!  I looked all over the forum for it with no luck.  It's good stuff.
I'm also going to try your suggestion Jim.
