Incident Overview
The Sterling fire is located east of Del Rosa Avenue in the city of San Bernardino. It was reported at 6:30 PM on June 25th, 2015. CALFIRE, City of San Bernardino and Forest Service responded with dozers, engines, and crews. The fire is now 95% contained and fire personnel are still on scene mopping up hotspots and putting in containment lines. Full containment is expected the morning of June 27.
Resources that responded to the fire included 22 engines, 4 crews, 2 water tenders, 1 air tanker, 1 air attack plane, and 2 helicopters, including the night flying helicopter. Currently there are 50 personnel assigned to the fire.
Drones temporarily halted tanker operations, but operations soon resumed. One drone was interfering with fire operations and has not been located. A second drone was reported by a concerned citizen and it was located. After reviewing the footage it was determined that it was not interfering with fire operations.
