Just a reminder for old and new neighbors alike.... we live in a beautiful, natural forest whose inhabitants include mountain lions.  I live in the East Canyon area, and my Mom & Dad live two doors down.  My Dad and another neighbor have spotted mountain lion tracks three times in the last three weeks.  The first ones were after that big rain we had around Feb 24.  Clear as day, in the mud behind my neighbors house.  The next two sets were seen in the snow.  My Dad has a casting of a mountian lion's track.  I bought it for him for father's day a couple of years ago as he fondly tells me of making such a casting when he was hiking as a boy scout in our area. So, he has something to compare the tracks with.  My son spotted a mountain lion across the street from our house about midnight, four or so years ago.  Mountain lions aren't particularly aggressive towards humans, but I'd watch out for your little ones and be aware at night.

Mt. Lion sighting

Today, at about 4:30 pm, a friend and I were coming back into WW from a motorcycle ride when a Mt. Lion ran south across Hwy 2.  The location of it's crossing was between Mt. High East and the water road.

My friend thought it might have been a bobcat but I was following him and got a better look.  It had a longer body, was fawn colored and had a long tail.

I've seem bobcats up here but this is the first time I have seem a Mt. Lion.

Wow, I was coming down from Jackson lake at about 3:30pm, I wish I could have seen it.

I did see a small bobcat crossing LPC at the dip below the upper esses at about 9:15pm last night......

Kris & I have seen bobcats crossing LPC at that location also.  Must be a "path" either home or to it's hunting area!

I haven't seen an actual mountain lion but I did see the tracks one day while hiking just below the slide.   It was in the snow and boy! those were some big paws!!!
