No fire at Silverwood.  People saw smoke billowing over from Arrowhead Fires in the downward vortex on the windward/North side of the mountains.

any news on silverwood?

I'm not aware of any fire in the Silverwood Lake area at this time.

20+ homes have been lost in the Arrowhead area (ABC news helicopter)

This and the Green Valley Lake Fire have potential for exponential growth with limited resources available to assist.  Latest reports are that winds are too severe for aircraft to be brought in at this time.

Unfortunately, San Bernardino County, unlike other surrounding counties, has no firefighting aircraft of their own but must depend on others for assistance.  The only dedicated firefighting helo is leased to CALFIRE and is busy fighting fires on state land.

This is some bad news....
Like I said, yesterday when we were up there the winds were REALLY strong.  The lake had HUGE white caps.  One employee at the restaurant we were eating at said she'd never seen the lake like that before.  The thought of fire crossed my mind while we were shooting video.... This is ugly.

I heard on the radio that our DC-10 is grounded in Victorville until these winds die down......

This is the view of the Arrowhead fire from Lone Pine Canyon.  It's pretty scary.  Not shown in the picture is a fire north or to the left.

Is there a website to get the most recent fire info?

Websites will be behind the curve with the rapid rate of spread.  Try these sites....it is confusing going but they have some maps.

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/breakingnews/

Suggest TV stations with helicopter coverage for most current (albeit confusing) information.

Evacuees are being sent to the Orange Show Fairgrounds, 689 S. E St. San Bernardino, CA, 92408. Animal Control is establishing an emergency evacuation center for animals at Wildwood Park at 40th Street and Waterman in San Bernardino.

Point of origin is directly below power lines in front of the power station.

Channel 7 helicopter is stating the winds have slowed down enough and water dropping helicopters are preparing to enter the fight against this fire.

Had a coworker who lives between Little Mountain and the San Bernardino Mountains by Cal State called home to evacuate. Neighbors said the Lake Arrowhead fire charged over the hill and down into that area. Anyone know if this is true?

I know that the Little Mountain fire has caused some evacuations, I do not think it was caused by the Lake Arrowhead fire.

The I215 northbound is closed right now at University Parkway because of the Little Mountain fire.
