Cajon Lookout
« on: Apr 13, 08, 07:56:56 PM »
Went this weekend to classes to become a fire lookout host. Found out something interesting. They are planning to put up a fire lookout above Siverwood lake on the mountain. This location would give a view of Cajon pass along with Devore , Lone Pine Canyon , Wrightwood and surrounding areas. They are presently selling a cook book to raise the remaining funds necessary to complete the lookout, but they hope to have it up and manned by trained volunteers by next fire season.  They will also be looking for help in building it this summer. Anyone interested in helping or purchasing a book to support the construction of the tower email me and I will forward the information to you. This should be another great tool to protect our community.

I'd love to see the Cajon Lookout tower completed and offer my help... and receive the cookbook.

Who is Pam and how do we contact her if the number is a voicemail?

George and Pam Morey are the fire lookout coordinators for the Angeles and San Benardino National forest areas. I would try both the number and email address they are good about getting back to you. I am going to see her this weekend and will see if I can pick up some of the cook books for people that are interested. I believe they are around $17 with all of the money going to support the Cajon Lookout.

Del Rosa: 4121 Quail Cyn. Rd., San Bernardino, CA. From the 210 Fwy (former Hwy 30) exit Del Rosa Ave. and head north to the foothills. After the "S" turns, the station is on the right.

Keenwild: Located on Hwy 243 south of Idyllwild and north of Mountain Center.
