Very touching, makes you wonder what a better world we would have if we emphasized sportsmanship over winning at all cost.

As I was watching the NCAA Women's World Series they showed this clip.  They also spoke with the ladies after they threw out the ceremonial first pitches.  One of the girls said that she had played long enough to know her team could help the injured player, and that they may have lost that game, they are forever winners.

And you have to wonder if a mens team would have done the same. I think women generally have much more compassion for their fellow women than men do. I think womens "teams" truly are, where mens teams are more a collection of individuals still competing against each other.

It was a nice gesture on the team's part.

Of course, I always like to recall that when Genghis Khan used to have his team play "Pillage and plunder" across much of central Asia, he would generally allow one person to live--someone fast enough to run to the next village down the road to spread the news, and prepare for the next inning.

Now, that was a sportsman   ;D

(sorry... weird humor addictions are very hard to cure)
