I would like to commend the people who took the initiative to stop these illegal dumpers. If we do nothing when we see illegal activities... we have no right to complain.

Standing ovation for those who have made a difference!

"The ham radio operators that assisted in the bust cleaned up the trash after the illegal dumper was arrested."

This sentence was not in the newspaper article.  It must have been added by John.  I saw the article on the front page of the Daily Press and wondered if it was the same one we heard about on the net Sunday night.  Why didn't they mention the use of the ham radio to catch them?   When it was reported on the communications net Sunday night, it was mentioned that the fine was hefty and the truck was impounded.  Is that not the case?  Mentioning those things in the article may have been a deterent for other folks that illegally dump.

Yes makgirl I had added the information. I'm not sure how much of the story was passed on to the reporter or if the article was trimmed to fit available space. Ham radio played a significant role on catching the guy!

Before I posted the article, photos and comments I contacted N6JWH via ham radio and verified the details and received permission to post it.

N6JWH is now making arrangements to remove and clean up the fire hazard created by the piles of dumped brush.

Wendy Cook is my best friend! When I lived next door to her, we used to walk back there all the time. That area has been a dumping ground for years. Kudos to her and her neighbors for catching this guy!

Arrangements have been made with a county agency to remove the hazardous brush sometime next week.

Great news! I hate dumping, but always feel helpless to stop it because I never see anyone do it. And how do you find out who dumped a couch? Good for those residents and ham operators that they found a way.

May I rant?? No license, no registration? Bet there was a lack of INSURANCE too! >:( I also wonder what his citizenship status was. Seems as though there is a lack of respect for the law or other people here!

Rant away! But what do you expect from those who's first action into this country is to break the law by coming here illegally? Good job ham ops.! Too bad we can't deport them on the spot. Maybe if we find out where this vermin live we can make it a new county disposal site.

I have a friend who is an engineer/contractor up in the bay area.  He built several million dollar homes up in the Oakland hills (where he use to live) and one of the sites he was building on was next door to where he and his family were living.  He kept a dump truck at the job site for obvious reasons and it seemed to always end up with trash not from his work site. One night while coming home late, he saw his neighbors in the shadows throwing their trash into his dump truck.  They knew they had been caught but didn't fess up.  He didn't confront them at that time, instead, the next morning, he dumped their trash from the truck on to their front lawn/driveway.

That ended THAT problem. :2thumbsup:
