Well really not so. When she/he splits. Mtn. High and WW will go together, the Market and Hardware store will have a nice view of Catalina!! Maybe even with some beach access to boot.
I know you are just joking, but it is a good time to dispel some common misconceptions about what will happen to California WHEN the big one hits.
I used to jokingly say that our property would be "beach front" property after the San Andreas lets loose since the fault runs through the South portion of our property.
The truth is... no part of California will "fall" into the ocean. There is no big hole in the Pacific Ocean for it to fall into. It is a part of the land mass that is attached to the globe. It is not hanging precariously attached to the rest of the land mass ready to fall anywhere, despite what the original Superman movie portrayed.
There will be a lateral shift in land mass in which those South of the fault will move closer to San Francisco by 30 to 40 feet in a matter of minutes. Just imagine what that will do gas lines, roads, freeways, oil pipelines, electrical powerlines, aqueducts, etc.
WHEN the San Andreas gives it will make Katrina look pale in comparison. It will be the largest natural disaster this nation has ever experienced in recorded history.
It behooves everyone to prepare as it isn't a matter of "IF", but "WHEN"!
