Mark your calendars, the Wrightwood Fire Safe Council is having its 3rd annual Ski/Snowboard Fundraiser at Mountain High on Tuesday, February 24, 2008, from 5pm - 10pm. Again this year we are combining the event to include not only the local tri-community, but also anyone with a badge, including Fire, Police and Agency personnel, will be able to buy a discounted ticket. All WFSC board members have tickets available to sell. The tickets are normally $30, but we will be selling them at the special price of $15 and all proceeds go to the WFSC. We will even deliver the tickets for free in the tri-community area. For those that would like to donate to the WFSC, but don't care to ski or snowboard, our council has made arrangements to donate tickets to some disadvantage youth, giving you twice as much bang for your buck. We did this last year and it was a big hit with the kids, who would not normally be able to ski or snowboard. You can get in contact with any of the other board members or me and we will be happy to get you as many tickets as you want. So won't you please help us raise some much needed money so that we may continue to educate our town on fire safety and provide much needed projects such as our annual Wildfire and Disaster Awareness Day, Pine Needle Drop Off Week and the emergency information magnets. Thanks for your support.

This year arrangements have been made to make donated tickets available to High Desert disadvantaged youths.

The sooner you donate tickets for the youths the better so they can arrange transportation.

I'll be happy to donate again this year.  Do the FSC board members get special points or something, if someone buys their tickets, vs. those from another board member?   ;)  So, do I have to play favorites in deciding who to buy the tickets from?   ;D

And, I'm glad the donated tickets are staying fairly local this year, not that it hasn't been a great cause every year.   :)

Well, there are 11 board members, times $15/ticket, that's $1650.  I need something left from my SS benefit to help keep the Yodeler in business!   ;D

And by "offering to help us out that night", I really hope you meant my help by donating tickets.   ;)  If I had to choose a way to check out, freezing to death wouldn't be my first choice of options....   ;D

Bob brings space heaters due to his age.  You can hang out with him!

There are two Bobs on the board, but I'm pretty sure I know which one you are referring to!   ;D

Only two more weeks from tonight for our event. It should be some of the best snow that Mtn High has had in years, so make sure to buy your tickets from any of our board members or online at http://www.wrightwoodfsc.com/ and help the Wrightwood Fire Safe Council raise some much needed funds for the coming year. Thank you to all that have already purchased tickets and to those who will be purchasing tickets shortly.

There is still time to buy tickets for these kids and at the same time support your Fire Safe Council.

The Wrightwood Fire Safe Council is Non-profit and run by volunteers who have spent thousands of hours helping make Wrightwood a fire safe community. Your fire safe council is one of the most aggressive in the entire state and has accomplished a great deal on a shoe string budget. We need your help so we can continue our efforts.

You may not have to time to volunteer but you surely could help by donating to this great organization.

I would like to thank the WWFSC for reaching out and donating ski tickets for the last two years to extremely needy and deserving kids.  They still talk ( and talk) about it to this day. ;D

You have created lasting life-long memories, and this simple act of kindness has let them know that people really do care enough to want to enrich their lives with new experiences.  I am fortunate to live in a place where most people understand this and the concept of giving.

Tonight is the night at Mtn High from 5pm-10pm. Won't you please help out a great organization that has accomplished so much on a shoestring budget. All of the council works hard to lessen the fire danger to our community through projects, working with government agencies and through education of the public. We are hoping to make our Wildfire and Disaster Awareness Day bigger and better than ever and also trying to make our Pine Needle and Green Waste Drop Off Event a twice a year project instead of just a once a year event. Tell your friends and neighbors today is the last day to buy tickets from board members or online, or just show up tonight at Mtn High and mention the Wrightwood Fire Safe Council at the ticket window for our organization to receive the entire sales price of these special tickets.
