Seeking help with location of waterfall and "cave"
« on: Aug 13, 09, 04:32:57 AM »
I haven't been to Wrightwood since the late 1970's. I'm planning a visit for mid-October. I remember hiking with my family, possibly up Acorn, and finding a waterfall that was about 10 feet high. Sound familiar to anyone? I also remember a "cave" (probably a mine) that we teenagers visited. It might have been sealed off since then. Anyone know where that is?

Yes.  Not Acorn, but Flume Canyon.

Yes.  Big Horn Mine.

Thank you!

I found a photo of Big Horn Mine--the mine I visited didn't have any wooden structure around it. It was fairly short, branched into two sections, was high enough to walk upright, but probably only two people could have walked side by side. As I remember it, we could walk from downtown, although it was a long walk and possibly on the east side of town. Could it be up Heath Canyon?
