Ya know...that's pretty dang tempting but I've pulled enough up our hill over the years. I remember my first year moving stuff into the house in December. I was taking a break... kicking back in the garage and some nut ball sliding around on the uphill asked me if I had chains,,,,, yea I got chains and FWD why don't you, what do I look like chains "R"us. BTW, MTN High is closed due to wind.... :P enter blank stare  :o

Tossed him a shovel over the fence because they didn't like my advise to back down the hill or use the floor mats.

 Can't fix stupid  ;)

This is exactly why I re-wrote our "snowmobile" closure to an "over snow vehicle" closure....  We have two areas on the district that are now closed to "over snow vehicles" because it is too easy for "over snow vehicles" to accidentally get into either the congressionally designated wilderness or into the military withdrawn lands.  Well, the miltary withdrawn lands has unexploded ordinances in it so that may solve the problem anyway.... 8)

Have you seen the ones where they have modified a dirt bike with a snowmobile track?

Ron the owner of Mammoth Powersports just bought the conversion for his KTM 530.  Last winter the manufacture came to Mammoth for a demo.  Not sure if any of you are familiar with chair 22 that goes up Lincoln, but these guys were riding up the chair line.  That's like riding up the bowl at East but steeper narrower and 10 times as long.

The USFS in Mammoth has stepped up their inforcement of snowmo's by using an airplane to spot people riding in closed areas.

another over snow machine.  I've heard these vehicles do well in deep snow, but they go kinda slow.

very close.  Obsidion dome is on the West side of 395, we were at Mono Craters on the East side of 395 and about 7 miles North, and just South of highway 120.

here's a map

yep we thought the same thing.  After circling the entire Mono Crater peaks We ended up crossing to the West side of 395 via the tunnel just North of the June Lake Shell station and riding to the edge of Grant Lake.   It sure appeared that much more snow fell in the June Lake area then around Mammoth with the last storm.

We had a sled roll down a hill and into a tree well at the punchbowl.  Wish I would have taken a picture as the sled was stuck upside down 5ft down in the well of the tree and Dan was trapped under it.  We lost a few sled parts (hood vents) and I'm pretty sure if I go back to that tree well and look around I'll find them.

This would work well for pushing snow players out of your front yards
