Operation Hope provides some very good information about financial disaster planning. Check out their site, especially their Emergency Financial First Aid Kit.

Hillside Church is offering the 13 week course titled "Financial Peace University" by Dave Ramsey. He is a popular TV and Radio Host who encourages Debt free living and teaches the tools to  get there and then to build wealth once with a baby step program. For more information check out the Dave Ramsey web site at daveramsey.com or call the Hillside office at 249-5007.

I love Dave Ramsey! I have his books and subscribe to his website but have never taken the course. I know he doesn't teach it personally but I'll bet it will be good.

I keep getting stuck at the "get current" stage which you have to do before even saving the $1K! Discouraging to tell you the truth. I'll see if I can come, thanks for the heads up.

I've been a Dave Ramsey listener for about 6 months while driving around between stores.  He's on KFWB between 9:00 and Noon.

The guy knows his stuff and I like his accent and style.

Just got his "Total Money Makeover" book a few weeks ago.  Haven't got to the makeover or baby steps program part yet.  I'm on the part in the book about the need to change our mindset.  We've been dupped into thinking debt is good and a way of life.  We put so much weight on the almighty FICO score.

Rice and Beans, Beans and Rice (Mexico Lindo?  No I guess restaurants are out), Drive a beater.  Get out of debt!!   "You have to live like nobody else, so you can live like nobody else."   ;D

A good friend of mine was about to lease a car.  I told him what Dave Ramsey had to say about leasing cars.  He read it for himself in his book and it made perfect sense.  He said that is why he's never leased a car in the past.  It doesn't add up.  Everything he read he believed to be true.  He's decided against leasing a car.
