North Eastern Japan was hit by a huge earthquake and Tsunami on March 11th, 2011. For assisting disaster relief operation, JARL is operating its HQ station JA1RL with cooperating stations for communications with suffered area.
The operation is mainly at 7.030 MHz during 0600-2000JST (2100-1100UTC) daily.

We would like to ask all radio amateurs to avoid transmission around 7.030 MHz until further notice for keeping that frequency clear from QRM.

Does anyone know if the microbursts of radiation disrupt the use of radio near the power plants? Or, does electromagnetic pulse primarily come from exploding nuclear weapons?

EMP (electromagnetic pulse) occurs from the initial atomic blast.
