Snow players invade Wrightwood

I'm curious - won't these pictures of gridlock show CalTrans that we need the center lane that they are proposing?  Or is it to show that it is a much bigger problem than what they are proposing?

No, I don't think so. Remember, the "continuous center lane" idea was a center turn lane, not a traffic lane. This (and that animated image John had of the van) will show that a center turn lane would be used (illegally) as another traffic lane (causing even more gridlock).

And looking at this photo, the only thing I can see large shoulders doing, is providing a "parking spot" for people.. also not something we want.

But by looking at this picture makes me think that some people just don't seem to shine as bright as others....

We have just decided to wait a bit to come up again, since they keep shutting down highways and it looks like the city is overwhelmed.

I completlely agree with raddog and the street blocking...that is why we sent our friends to the very top of Acorn Canyon (by the gate).   We figured they would be out of everyones way and not disturbing anyone.  And although the drive is private, the land at the top is Forestry Land and not privately owned.

Again I would like to apologize for really voicing my opinion, but I was just so upset that this lady would treat people so wrongly. 
I am one to get really frustrated by the "flatlanders" coming up, especially when I can't get to Jensens or the post office or as raddog stated when you can't even drive to your home because they are blocking the street, but I would never think of resorting to "maddness".  (Which I know that most people won't)  Isn't it too bad we can't hand out "rules" for snowplay when they come up.



OMG! During the summer, I was driving with a friend trying to show him how great WW is and convince him to buy some property, we went up Acorn as well and had a similar situation. This person is a jerk!  It is so beautiful out there and he thinks he owns it! We all suffer having players on the street, that is ridiculous!

That's incorrect as the area is private property and owned by Camp Maria Stella. The Acron Trail crosses the Camp for a good distance before you ever get to Angeles National Forest land.

About a month ago my wife took me up that road to show me how beautiful it was.  She also wanted to show me a couple of houses for sale up there.  We went past the sign that said private road and drove to the end. As we turned around at the dead end of the street, a couple of young thugs came running up to our car waving their arms as if we were trespassers and very unwelcome.  These thugs were part of a group of 4 who appeared to be drinking beer at the house on the west side of the dead end.  I wanted to ask them what their problem was with us driving on a public road (marked private), but my common sense (my wife) convinced me to just drive away.

I wonder how those houses that are up for sale will ever sell with that bogus sign telling people to stay off the  "private road".

My road says "private road" in only deters law abiding good people.  The riff raff just drive right on up.

CHP Officer Perez tonight told us that a CHP Task Force of 6 Officers will be working this weekend citing and towing, so we don't have a recurrence of last weekend.  Hwy 2 will be the focus from the county line to 138.  Unfortunately Lone Pine Canyon will not have the coverage it deserves until Sunday, when Officer Perez will personally watch Lone Pine.

Officer Perez told me that next time we have a situation on Lone Pine where cars are parked like last weekend, to call them and they will send tow trucks out right away.  Lone Pine Canyon at Sheep Creek had cars parked on both sides with basically just one lane available.  When you see this call CHP and tell them traffic is being obstructed.

So who should we call when our property is being invaded and people refuse to leave?  Is there a number to call?  We are on Hwy. 2 between Rivera and Cardinal (SB Co.)  It really ruins the weekend for us, and we would like to attend Mike McKay's rememberance without worrying about trespassers.  We've already cancelled our Superbowl get together because it is nearly impossible for anyone to make it to our house.  We are hostage to the mobs.

If the CHP doesn't have absolute control of the traffic on hwy2 Saturday it may be difficult for anyone in Wrightwood to get to the service.

Yes, the Lone Pine route after the Memorial will probably be the easiest--although Lone Pine last weekend sounded like a nightmare too.  Oh well...we will be at the Memorial regardless.  When you put it in perspective, we are blessed to have this as our biggest worry.

It's good to see the CHP out and about...only problem is:  we're off the 2 at the county line and a CHP Unit just told the knuckleheads that they can't park there and if they stay they will be towed.  4 cars left and the 15 or so that stayed just stood there looking like they didn't understand him...probably didn't...and as soon as he left the vacant spots were immediately filled in.  I took my Lab/Pit mix out for a little stroll in the back and told a few headed toward my property that they can stay where they were but avoid my property...they did so while Buddy and I were out there...funny thing tho; this Hispanic guy, looking like he belonged in East L.A., dark glasses, beanie, unshaven, walked toward us with his medium/large dog...my Buddy growled at him once and the tail on the guys dog went between his legs and his dog started pulling him in the opposite direction.  You could tell that the dog didn't want anything to do with Buddy.  We just stood there and smiled....HA!.....if he only knew my Buddy....my Buddy is actually a chicken in a dog costume.  Buddy finally earned his keep.
