Hey everyone, look on the bright side! These people are bringing mucho dinero into our little town even if they only buy cheap little sleds that break and some snow chains. If the breaking of sleds is such a big issue, then why are we not coordinating with the stores in town to get them off the shelves? The thicker ones that go for 30 dollars will not break and prove themselves in value over years of use. They are about a half of an inch thick plastic. Lets come up with some solutions to the problems instead of gloating/complaining. Our town could do much more to accommodate the guests as well as bring in some much needed revenue!

We were able to get 3 portapotties for the weekend. Two are by the playground and one in the Veterans Park. That has helped a lot with the park restroom crowd.

The Sheriff department issued over 100 citations yesterday from 7 am to 5 pm. They are up here today and Monday same timing (full time here) doing the same. They deal with residential issues/streets. Hwy 2 is CHP.

Good for the Sheriff's Dept, good for whomever put in more porta-potties... and a very special 'good for Mountain Hardware.' And, I sincerely hope all the stores and restaurants are doing a booming business with all the visitors.

All things considered, I must say there wasn't as much traffic yesterday, as there was on New Years Day. I didn't see the constant gridlock well into the night.

Some "locals" need to learn a lesson too. The weather was real nice yesterday afternoon. Since I couldn't really get the car out and go anywhere, my wife and I decided to just walk into town, buy some stuff at some of the local stores along Park, and get something to eat.

We decided to walk to Grizzly, to see how long of a wait they had. As we were walking along the side of Ross street, some crack-head turned onto Ross, and laid on her horn. As she passed us, she stopped next to us, rolled down her window and yelled to us "F*** you.. get out of here. You don't even live here". Then she drove off.

She did that once or twice more to other people walking along Ross.

I had notice more of the locals being more upset than the tourist. The people from down the hill were having so much fun up here. This is a good money for our lil town.

I ventured out yesterday on foot to the post office. I made sure to leave my prejudice at home and see how that worked for me. I was happily watching people play in the snow til I got to the 4 way stop sign. The moment I stepped into the crosswalk, the car adjacent to me blew the stop sign and headed for me. I yelled at the driver, she stopped in the middle of the intersection, I bowed and gestured exaggeratedly for her to go in front of me and she flipped me off. Leaving the post office, again at the stop signs, again a car blew the stop sign as I stepped into the crosswalk. There were also pedestrians on the other side trying to cross. The 2nd car stopped in the middle of the road in front of me as I yelled, "really? really?" He probably flipped me off too, but I couldn't tell because his windows were tinted.
Upside: it helped me remember why I never leave the house when it snows.

Note to self after reading Makgrl's post. When crossing Hwy 2, pretend (or actually be) taking a video on the phone. Hopefully drivers will be think their pics and plates are being recorded and will become more cordial.

When we residents walk to the stop sign to cross, consider that the east/west cars have been sitting in awful traffic conditions for a long time. It doesn't excuse their rudeness, but explains it. In my experience, a little patience plus very clear body language about when and which way you intend to cross goes a long way.
