Need information to get started in your world!

Hi to all the seasoned Ham radio operators!
We are looking into having Ham radio capability at Paradise Springs at Big Rock Creek.  We need your suggestions on equipment, testing etc.  Tom at the YMCA camp suggested this site.  Can someone help?
