If you have "ME TV" you can watch this episode. It is called "Welcome to Santa Rosa County," (episode #6.10, Oct 1976) some parts were filmed at LA National Forest Center Big Pines, fishing scenes at Jackson Lake, and other scenes were shot at the "Methodist Camp above the center of the town in Wrightwood." I have the book, "Emergency Behind the Scenes" (since I became a Paramedic because of that show in 1977), and it lists locations each episode was shot. I love watching these old episodes and see how far the EMS program has come.

That episode was 1976. Emergency! was 1972-1979, however after 1976 there were no more episodes, there were a few Emergency! movies instead.

Is this in two parts? I saw this post too late to see the program today. Tomorrow's episode is also titled "Welcome to Santa Rosa County." When weighed against your post, I was confused.

FYI  Dish also has METV on channel 20.

Cool!  I'll check it out and DVR it for sure.  I am enjoying that channel too.  Love those old TV shows...often simple premises but the chemistry between actors (i.e. MTM show, Bob Newhart, Dick Van d**e...) is just not found nor felt in new shows.

Watched it.  Pretty cool.  So little has changed!  There was no parking lot at Jackson Lake in the show.  More interestingly, what were the other buildings that are no longer adjacent to the Big Pines building?  I can see remnants of them on Google.  What happened?

I used to watch that show when I was little.  The fire station noises in the intro are classic.  The lead actor's name "Randolph Mantooth" is also excellent. ;D "Wes Mantooth" was used in Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy.

It was fun watching it and seeing Big Pines, I will always love that show! It lead me into EMS for my life, so it is a special series to me.

The parking lot was there. It was hidden behind the bushes from where the vehicles came driving from the beach, around the bushes on to the scene. That area where they were fishing has not changed at all.

As for the extra building in the scenes involving the Big Pines Ranger Station, that WAS the Swarthout Valley Lodge which was located right next door to the Big Pines Ranger Station. It was burned to the ground in an arson fire in 1987. Tragically most of the photos of the history of Big Pines was lost in that fire. More info about this fire and how the arsonist was found through the investigative efforts of our current District Archeologist, Doug Milbourne, can be found in the Wrightwood's History forum topic and the Big Pines Volunteer Newsletter.

There is a great "rendering" of that building on The Big Pines Ranger Station's Facebook page. Check it out.
