Not along the section that has been closed for years. There are vacation homes in the lower canyon, and there was a little resort at Falling Springs which burned down in the Curve Fire last year. Closing the section of highway 39 above Crystal lake to Highway 2 has not impacted any resident or business.

In fact there is'nt even any recreation access on that section of road and never has been. It is EXTREMELY steep both above and below the road. No trails, no picnic areas, nothing.

The Lower canyon is still open to the east fork bridge. The only businesses are on the east fork, and still accessable.

I'm curious about the growth of population in Wrightwood since 1980/1981.
It were about 2,500 people back then if I remember correctly. And the last count which I remember seeing somewhere stated around 3,000. But that was in the beginning of the 90's. The last time I was in WW (in 2000) I noticed a change but not too much.
But, wow, what a change Phelan has gone through! Back in 1980/1981 there was a mobile home here, ..., anotherone there, ... not that many. Serrano only had a few hundred students. My goodness, how much has it changed down there!
Does someone know about Phelans growth?
So, is there someone wanting to share his/he knowledge? I'd be very pleased to read about it here!
