Just my 2 cents, but absolutely no need for reverse-osmosis; our water is great for drinking.  Bad for pipes, but great for humans -- the minerals that make the water hard lower your risk of heart disease and kidney stones.  Here is the water quality report: http://www.gswater.com/wrightwoodCCR/

So the best thing to do would be to cut out the filter altogether and just drink our excellent water from the tap.

And as far as NaturalNews goes, I don't think they're necessarily disingenuous; I think they probably believe the things that they're reporting, but it's full of misinformed fear-mongering.  Every time I've looked into an article at the site, the actual research that they references does not draw the same conclusions that they do.  I don't write off anything as conspiratorial on its face, because conspiracies are a reality in all societies, particularly in our propagandistic corporatocracy, but these folks are very far afield.

Tim..I agree with you. I used to buy bottled water when I lived on the westside of L.A.  I love the taste of the water here in the pphcsd. It is hard water (likely why it tastes so good).. and bad for pipes as you said.

And, the pphcsd does send us water quality reports.  So, I'm not concerned about that.

But Dreamcatcher.. why did you think this would save water?  I don't get that part of your post. cheryl o7o

I thought if anyone has a RO system that wastes water or if anyone is thinking of getting a RO system, this would be something to look into.  Anyone like you who is happy with their water wouldn't benefit.

I just quit showering and quit brushing my teeth.
The water bill is way down, but the neighbors are keeping their distance.
Go figure.

Ah, Nolena .. we are kindred spirits. It must be because we're both from Buffalo. My new plan is to let the dog do the dishes. He'll be happy and so will I.

Dreamcatcher... you started a great thread. And, we should all get serious about it.  Must say I did taste your water up in WW.. and our water here is better.  We should likely do a blind-taste test to prove that one way or the other. I liked Arrowhead when I lived on the westside of L.A. I particularly liked Arrowhead when I'd do a crash in Lake Arrowhead while water-skiing.

Fixed a leak on Thursday that required turning off the water for a few hours. I was not happy with all the sand that came through the pipes when we turned it back on. But, once I realized I was going to be flushing the pipes for awhile.. I trekked it out to the garden to do double duty.

My new goal is to figure out how little water my plants and trees really need. This is not easy. All tips appreciated.   cheryl o7o

This is how I wash my car:  Fill a spray bottle with white vinegar and grab a few micro fiber rags.  Spray the vinegar on a section of the car and wipe it off with a rag.  It works great on the windows, paint, and chrome.  It's fast and easy.

Before cleaning anything we need a couple hours of (gentle-mild) rainfall to get the pollen off the trees and everything it's landed on  :)

another way that works great too is to put a couple of gallons of water in a bucket and then clean one area at time. like clean the front fenders and hood, then dry that area and move on to the top and doors and so on. this isn't going to work after a day of mud boggin', but if you like to keep your car clean all the time, it works great. i used to have a black El Camino and it looked like a show car all the time with this method. in between i'd used Mequries (sp) spray on car cleaner.

I don't know what water you are drinking Tim, but the water here tastes HORRIBLE!!!!!  I have water delivered to drink.
