From this Periscope feed it appears the fire tried to jump Hwy at the area known as the "Levels" and Fire Fighters stopped it there.

Then they said the fire was burning against the wind going downhill. Is that possible?

It's defiantly possible for fire go against the wind and down hill. I saw it.

Looks like Wrightwood is doing good.  Is anyone starting to talk about a semi-serious timetable for 1.  opening the 15 and 2. lifting the evacuation order on Wrightwood?

Live news feed shows considerable smoke coming from what could be the Dawson Saddle area. That could push towards Blue Ridge. Any one confirm?

Here is a link to my picture post from Face Book. I took the picture with snip it from the ABC7 live video feed. This could not be good.

Can't get Toolman's link to open, but isn't Dawson Saddle 5 miles west of Vincent Gap?

There is a Dawson Peak south of Wright Mountain: Wright > Pine > Dawson > Baldy. But yes, that plume concerns me as well. That flank of the fire has been burning westward on the north face of the ridge between Lone Pine Canyon and Lytle Creek, and could wrap around to the north into Wrightwood if pushed by the winds.

Latest MODIS and VIIRS infrared satellite fire detections as of the satellite pass at 1:45am PDT on Thursday, August 18, 2016.  Along the northwestern front of the fire, the most active regions are in Horse Canyon to the east of Wrightwood, and 2 miles southeast of Wrightwood by Gobbler's Knob.  The orange line is the latest "heat perimeter" KML file, date Aug. 17.

Yes. A LEO and an engine were waiting by my friend's car when he returned from hiking at 5 pm on the first day. Then the fire people closed the gate.
