Conditions:    Strong northeast winds diminished around midafternoon and ushered in the return to a typical diurnal pattern. The fire area is still under the influence of low relative humidity's, dry fuel moistures. Moderate to extreme fire behavior was observed over the fire area including spotting, wind and fuel driven runs. The fire will continue to burn to the northwest impacting the communities of Magalia and Paradise Lake. Fire crews conducted structure defense and perimeter control. The community of Stirling City is still threatened. The fire continued to burn to the northeast on both sides of Highway 70. The fire continued to burn to the southwest into the east Chico city limits and Highway 32. The fire is holding to the south at highway 99 and highway 149. The fire will continue to burn to the southwest toward Big Bend and Berry Creek. Crews continued tactical patrols in the communities of Paradise and Concow. The fire will continue to threaten buildings and infrastructure in the communities of Town of Paradise, Chico, Magalia, Concow, Stirling City, Yankee Hill, Butte Creek Canyon, Butte Valley, Honey Run, Helltown, Forest Ranch, and Oroville.

Resources will be prepositioned in preidentified locations in anticipation of the wind event. Crews continued tactical patrols in the communities of Paradise, Concow, and Magalia.

Conditions:  Last night the fire conditions were moderate to extreme due to the wind event. Crews continued to protect structures and fight fire aggressively. Fire lines are strategically being put in ahead of the fire to improve roads and provide barriers to the fire. Today the fire and firefighters will continue to be impacted by the strong winds. With the northeast wind pushing smoke to the southwest air operations will take advantage of the clearer air on the eastern side of the fire as long as weather and smoke conditions permit. Firefighters and cooperating agencies are continuing to mitigate many hazards within Paradise, CA. At 0700 hrs this morning the Camp Fire Incident entered unified command with USFS.

Just saw a piece on KABC regarding utility liability. The law allowing them to pass on their liabilities to ratepayers doesn't take effect until Jan. 1, 2018.  tsk tsk

The effective date of the bill allowing utilities to pass their liability costs onto rate payers is Jan. 1, 2019.  My previous post was an error. Thanks for catching it.
